Back in 2010 I hosted an outing for Adelphi University students to see Chaw Ei Thein at the Brooklyn Soap Box. A very special feature of an excerpt of TO THE DEATH OF MY OWN FAMILY is displayed prominently on the website for Gender Across Borders as part of their Culture and Human Rights series. It is a very interesting website and they do very good work on behalf of women.

I only post this in hopes that a journalist or someone with artistic influence could help spread the word and represent the people in Libya. The possessors of the atomic power,
We all share this world,
Don't bring violence to it,
Why break the silence in it?
Please don't break the silence in it

IT WAS hard not to be moved both by the demeanour of Aung San Suu Kyi when she was freed from house arrest in Yangon on November 13th, and by the popular reaction to her freedom.
Her grace, courage and good humour seem undiminished.…
