Biography: Bio:

I took numerous courses/training in filmmaking, including scriptwriting, cinematography, editing and animation. I'm the artistic director for a film center and the founder of Artkhana, an established art space in Alexandria that caters to filmmakers’ technical and training needs alongside animation, graphics and visual arts. I worked as a project manager in Softoria, a Canadian animation firm, while I gave many storyboarding and animation trainings in Alexandria and Cairo. I was the first assistant director and local producer in “The City Of The Dead”, a feature documentary film by Sergio Trefaut, a Portuguese French co-production on the city of the dead in Cairo and was in the main competition in IDFA “International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam” among many other international festivals. I have further filmmaking experiences as editor, director of photography, assistant director and a film director in productions funded by the Anna Lindh Foundation, Pro-Helvetia, Jesuit Cultural Center and the United Nations among others.

He has compiled five years of extensive experience in video editing, using Final Cut Pro. My work included contributions to major media outlets. I'm also engaged in the independent art community, working closely on short and long fiction and documentary films.

I'm working currently as an assistant director to Tamer El-Said in the feature film “In The Last Days Of The City” shot between Cairo, Baghdad, Berlin & Beirut.

I'm finishing two short narrative films by the end of this year and I'm shooting a feature length documentary in Sudan about the civil war as I was commissioned by South African and Sudanese organizations to direct it end of November.

Artkhana is pleased to announce the upcoming “Storyboarding Workshop”.
